Lagotronics asked NBG Industrial Automation to assist in developing the software for a brand new high tech lighting system and according controller. Lagotronics decided to use an embedded operating system. After a survey, it was decided to start with FreeRTOS . Two weeks later, we where attended to AVIX-RT by an employee of Lagotronics.
First surprising fact was the ready to run downloads available on the AVIX homepage for the Microchip Explorer16 development board. No struggle with setting up the RTOS for your embedded processor, just build and run. Also the simple use of AVIX is surprising compared with other operating systems. Last but not least, the system to be developed uses a lot of interrupts. The interrupt latency of AVIX is very low compared to other operating systems… So (almost) no need to worry about losing information caused by interrupt latency.
Furthermore, the manual delivered with the download is a great piece of work. Basic concepts of AVIX are shortly described, and the API’s are all well documented. Together with the example files a user is able to setup relative easy an embedded system for the Microchip dsPIC24 and dsPIC33F Microchip controllers.
Last but not least, the great support. Questions are answered within one day, and suggested improvements are implemented very quickly or are assigned for next releases.
In short, AVIX is a pleasure to work with. It feels like AVIX runs on the background and you don’t need to worry about AVIX… Just keep yourself to the rules of AVIX and it run’s without any problems…
